Tonj South County Education Office calls on schools to turn up John Lee Memorial tournament in Tonj South County of Warrap State.

The inter_ Schools tournament is meant to honour the legacy of Fr. John Lee in Tonj during his lifetime.

The tournament is expected to commence on 11th July 2025 at Tonj Freedom Square.

The school headmasters , principles, and sport masters are asked to select only learners and not outside footballers.

The schools are asked to contribute the following fee for a school team.

1. Secondary schools team= 400,000 ssp

2. Primary Schools team=300,000ssp

3. Female School Team= 200,000 ssp.

Below are the names of schools participating in the inter school tournament;

A. Secondary schools

1. Rainbow (Pan Africa)secondary school.
2. St. Bakhita Secondary school.
3. Royal Secondary School
4. Don Bosco Secondary school
5. Tonj National Secondary School

B. Primary Schools

Breaking: Tonj South County CED inspects schools, encourages hard work among schools to qualify for school feeding program.

June 24th, 2025.

Mr. Karbino Mabith Chol, Tonj South County Education Director has earlier this week launched a one week inspection tour in all schools in the Payams of Tonj South County to ensure their qualifications for the school feeding program.

He says that his administration targets school which latrines, stores and kitchens basically needed for their qualifications to the feeding program.

"I and my team are targeting the schools without latrines, stores, kitchen and the boreholes so that the communities should take part in putting right to what is missing at the schools in order to allow our partners to provide food to our schools children," he remarked.

"The inspection begun in Piokoi Jak Payams covering all the schools and it has now extended to Wanhalel where Pankou primary school has become qualified after the community have dug the latrine and store that were missing at the school, Malek Mathok communty school and Green Pasture faith based school have also met the criteria," he revealed.

He also said they will launch the same inspection in Payams of Tonj and later to Manyang-ngok and Aguka.

"Tommorrow will be the schools under Tonj Payams and the team will proceed to Manyang-ngok and Agugo as well, " Mr. Bith further adds.

He urged teachers to take daily attendance, pupils roll-calls, children's discipline and general hygience and sanitation at schools.

The CED also disclosed the management has also promised the school teachers to provide the building to them soon to improve on the areas of teachers code of conducts, teacher's professional ethics, classroom management, teaching methodology, scheme of work and lesson plan and closes that this will be done in gathering all the untrained teachers in one payam after the other.

Breaking: BAPC Administration announces commencement of the new intakes for interested students.

Friday, 6th June 2025.

The Buoth Anyaar Polytechnic College (BAPC), and a college branch operating in Tonj South County, is urging the public, especially those with senior four certificates to register and study.

The application forms for the second Intakes will be available from June 15th to July 1st, 2025 at BAPC office in Tonj Town, located inside Tonj Girls Primary school's compound.

This information was posted by Bol Deng Ayiei, Tonj Town BAPC branch manager today.

"I am hereby informing and inviting the public that Buoth Anyaar Polytechnic College is ready to take its second intakes especially those with SSCE certificates, to come and register with us. new intake is from 15 June to 1st July 2025. your application forms are available at Mesmar building inside the fence of Tonj girls' primary school. for more details go through the brochure below," the post reads.

The opening of Buoth Anyaar Polytechnic College aims at supporting and providing short courses to pursue for the local people around Tonj, and to pursue their course at affordable tuition fees.

𝐉𝐮𝐛𝐚, 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 – President Salva Kiir Mayardit has officially sworn in Dr. Benjamin Baak Deng Bol as the new Chief Justice in a ceremony held on Monday at the Presidency.

Dr. Baak takes over the country’s highest judicial office alongside his newly appointed deputy, Laku Tranquilo Nyombe. The oath of office was administered by Supreme Court Justice Dr. James Alala Deng.

President Kiir described the judiciary as the “foundation of justice and stability in any nation,” emphasizing that a credible legal system is central to peace and development.

The President outlined several concerns that have been brought to his attention, including the persistent delay in court proceedings, limited access to justice—particularly in rural areas—and weak enforcement of court rulings. He stressed that the judiciary must operate independently and remain free from political interference.

The President also called on the new leadership to embark on comprehensive reforms to clear all delayed and pending cases. He said transparency, accountability, and the timely delivery of justice must define the new era in the judiciary. He also emphasized the importance of moral and ethical training for judges, the timely payment of salaries, and strict measures to root out corruption within the legal system.

In his acceptance speech, Chief Justice Dr. Baak expressed readiness to confront the challenges ahead, starting with the massive backlog of unresolved cases. He appealed to the government for stronger support in addressing longstanding issues in the judiciary.

Officials say the appointments and the President’s firm stance signal a potentially transformative moment for the country's justice system.

On Sunday, 25th May 2025, after Sunday service at St. Peter Cathedral of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan in Tonj South County, the church's Youth leader, Abraham Makur Guang convened a meeting to appoint the body that will represent the interests and responsibilities of Youth in the Diocese.

SUN GATE INSTALLS SOLAR POWER SYSTEM AT DOOR FM STATION, EVERY VILLAGE.

On Monday, 19th May 2025, Sun Gate launched a solar power system installation in Door FM (Every Village Compound ) in Tonj South County.

The 24 solar panels and three big batteries power system will be utilised by both the compound and radio operations.

With poles arranged and solar panels setup, the installation which commenced earlier this week next and yet in progress, is expected to end next week.

This move underscores the today's world high demands for energy/power for electrified society.

The use of solar power systems, which have emerged as promising and sustainable energy solutions, signifies efforts of combating fossil fuel-based power sources, which, on the other hand, are not only depleting, but also causing significant environmental damage and climate change.

A solar power system is a setup that utilizes solar panels to convert sunlight into electricity. This electricity can be used at homes, businesses, and other facilities.

Solar power system uses solar panels, an inverter, a battery (if used for storage), and a charge controller. Solar panels are made up of photovoltaic cells that convert sunlight into direct current (DC) electricity. The inverter then converts this DC electricity into alternating current (AC) electricity, which is the type of electricity used in most homes and businesses. The charge controller regulates the power flow from the solar panels to the battery and the load.

One of the significant advantages of solar power systems is that, it renewable and environmentally friendly, and compared to fossil fuels, which can some times produce greenhouse gases, that probably contribute to climate change. Additionally, solar power systems can be installed in remote areas to provide reliable source of electricity.

Zain Network Expansion in Wunlit Payam, Jalwau Community – Tonj East County

The Zain telecommunications company has initiated the setup of its mobile network infrastructure in Wunlit Payam, located within the Jalwau community of Tonj East County, Warrap State, South Sudan.
