MAKING IT UPDATE
The project kicked off with a public presentation of the program, hosted by the Venice Academy of Fine Arts 🇮🇹 during the renowned Venice Biennale, followed by an open call.
After an incredibly challenging selection process, due to the overwhelming number of outstanding applications, fourteen exceptional young artists from across 🇪🇺 were chosen to participate.
The first workshop took place over the summer at Libertas, Koper 🇸🇮, where participants immersed themselves in a week-long environment of continuous dialogue and collaboration. The program's foundation was built on the concept of what it means to be an artist, with a focus on growth as a process where comfort can become a barrier. Participants were encouraged to see failure as an opportunity for potential.
Throughout the workshop, each participant presented a project proposal, which evolved over the course of the week. They also wrote a letter to their future selves.
These transformations and new perspectives were nurtured by ongoing dialogue with mentors JAŠA and Laura Rositani.
Afternoons were dedicated to an interdisciplinary curriculum, featuring topics such as artistic production, promotion, writing, active citizenship, fundraising, and archiving, all led by incredible guest tutors.
This approach allowed participants to develop, discuss, and refine their project proposals, which rapidly took shape and structure. Now, they are moving into the next phase: preparing for a public exhibition in Kuhlhaus Berlin this November 🇩🇪
We are excited for all the future holds!
