Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society - SIFAS Kala Samskriti Lakshanam - "Art Characterises Civilisation"
www.sifas.org The Society began humbly in 1949 with only 12 members.

Today, it has a Principal, a Vice-Principal, 28 highly qualified full-time tutors, over 2000 members and students.

Developing and sustaining that curriculum has by far been one of the greatest challenges for the Society, but one that has yielded many benefits. It has fostered homegrown talents and created an awareness and understanding of the Indian cultural heritage, which is particularly valuable in the multi-ethnic Singapore.

SIFAS Productions Ltd is pleased to share the successful completion of the Polymer Clay & Terracotta Jewellery-Making Foundation Course, a meaningful initiative that reflects our vision of building stronger communities through the arts and our mission to make arts education accessible, inclusive, and empowering for all.

Initiated under the vision and leadership of Ms Menaka Gopalan, Executive Director of SIFAS Productions Ltd, the course was developed by Guru Raghuveeran Palraj, Senior Tutor of the SIFAS Visual Arts Development, as part of SIFAS Productions’ ongoing commitment to community outreach and serving underrepresented communities. Conceptualised and delivered in partnership with Project SMILE, the programme provided meaningful creative engagement for members of the silver generation.

The 12-session foundation course brought together 14 participants, aged between 48 and 73, from diverse backgrounds and with varying levels of artistic experience. More than just a skills-based programme, it created a welcoming space for learning, self-expression, confidence-building, and social connection through the visual arts.

The course introduced participants to the art of creating contemporary jewellery using polymer clay and terracotta. Guided by Mr Raguveeran, alongside dedicated trainers and volunteers, participants crafted earrings, pendants, bracelets, necklaces, and other wearable art pieces while maintaining personal art journals documenting their ideas, sketches, colour explorations, and creative journeys.

The programme was coordinated by Ms Ponni Muralidharan, with Ms Suganya Arul and Ms Meenambigai Sundara Vadivelan serving as Lead Trainers. They were supported by Team Trainers Ms Payel Raksh*t, Ms Natrajan Shanmuga Vadivu, and Ms Rathi Balamuruga Ganapathy, whose guidance and encouragement contributed greatly to the participants’ learning experience.

The programme concluded with a showcase of the participants’ completed jewellery collections and journals, followed by a certificate presentation celebrating their dedication, creativity, and achievements.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Project SMILE and its Founder, Ms Uma Balji, for their valu

We were delighted to welcome the Singapore Sindhi Association to the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society today, led by President Mr Ghanshyam Ahuja and accompanied by members of the Association.

The visit offered an opportunity to introduce our guests to the diverse disciplines and programmes that we offer here in SIFAS, interact with our tutors, experience our learning spaces, and gained a deeper appreciation of the vibrant artistic community at SIFAS.
