Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society - SIFAS Kala Samskriti Lakshanam - "Art Characterises Civilisation"
www.sifas.org The Society began humbly in 1949 with only 12 members.

Today, it has a Principal, a Vice-Principal, 28 highly qualified full-time tutors, over 2000 members and students.

Developing and sustaining that curriculum has by far been one of the greatest challenges for the Society, but one that has yielded many benefits. It has fostered homegrown talents and created an awareness and understanding of the Indian cultural heritage, which is particularly valuable in the multi-ethnic Singapore.

A Night of Gratitude | SIFAS Diamond Jubilee Appreciation Dinner

On 5th April, SIFAS hosted a special evening to honour the people behind the scenes of our Diamond Jubilee celebrations, marking one of the last events held at the auditorium as we prepare for our move into our new premises. The night was filled with a reflective spirit as we recognised our achievements and how far we’ve come in these last 75 years, while also looking ahead with an inspired vision as we embark on our next milestone.

From dedicated staff to talented performers, our devoted tutors, our supportive Sangamam volunteers, vendors and our leading Management Committee (MC) members, the Appreciation Dinner was our way of saying thank you to all who made the 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee Commemorative and Fundraising Dinner a success.

In his opening address, Diamond Jubilee Co-Chair Mr. Venkat shared personal reflections on his journey with SIFAS, thanking every individual who played a part in the event—and spoke of the joy in seeing this 75th year celebration exceed expectations. Certificates and momentos were presented to all who contributed.

President Mr. K V Rao closed the evening by commending the unity and spirit of the community, and shared his pride in seeing SIFAS recognised by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi and Hon’ble Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. He also remarked in excitement on SIFAS’ bright future ahead in the new premises at Middle Road.

To every individual who helped turn vision into reality: Thank you. Here's to 75 years of tradition, and a future full of promise. Stay tuned on this page for sneak previews of our new home!

Our Story

Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society or SIFAS is committed to the teaching of Indian classical fine arts in a helpful domain with high standards and exclusive requirements. Its philosophy is portrayed in its motto in Sanskrit, which states: ‘Kala Samskrithi Lakshanam’ – Art Characterizes Civilisation.

SIFAS is a non-profit Indian cultural organisation in Singapore that has achieved a high level of technical excellence in Indian Fine Arts. Students can choose to graduate with a Certificate or Diploma. Graduates educated and trained at SIFAS provide principal support to other Indian cultural groups in Singapore and the region. The contribution of the Society to Indian Fine Arts in Singapore has been extensive.

The Society began humbly in 1949 with only 12 members. Today it has a Principal, 27 qualified and competent full time teachers, over 1600 members and 2000 students with a pan-Indian curriculum of 14 disciplines that reflects the cultural diversity of a vast country with an ancient heritage. Developing and sustaining that curriculum has been one of the greatest challenges for the Society so far, but one, which has yielded many benefits. It has fostered home grown talents and created an awareness and understanding of the Indian cultural heritage, particularly valuable in the multi-ethnic Singapore.
