Every year in Singapore, thousands of us attempt the impossible:

It's a balancing act worthy of a professional juggler.

The funny thing is, life is a lot like juggling. The secret isn't keeping everything perfectly in the air all the time — it's knowing what to catch first when things get hectic.

📋 Last month, a parent asked me to write a report card about her child's progress in my Juggling Classes.

I've been performing Juggling Shows and conducting Juggling Lessons/Workshops for many years. Here's an excerpt of the report that I wrote:

1️⃣ Skill and technique
(Your child) has progressed from not being able to toss and catch a single juggling ball to now being able to toss 3 balls with both hands in an optimal sequence ... (practice) would aid his progress.

2️⃣ Strength and Agility
(Your child's) strength with respect to the juggling activity has improved ... While each juggling ball weighs only about 100 grammes, it is tossed and caught many times during each session ... can toss each ball or object at various heights more confidently ...
(Your child) has also learned various "tricky moves" such as using his foot ... while lying down on the floor ... "popping" a ball from the crook of his elbow ...
His reaction time will improve ... Since (your child) wears spectacles, it is important for him ...

3️⃣ Problem-solving and Observational ability
(Your child) is very observant and is able to apply his musical talent to the juggling activity ... tempo of the juggling movements. He has learned to ... understand the algorithms involved in juggling. (Your child) is also currently learning to juggle with rings. A Juggling Ring has a different shape compared to a Juggling Ball and requires a different technique. .. He has been able to "bounce back" and try again whenever he fails – this aspect is very important in problem-solving.

Just finished conducting my Juggling Class. If you ever see a man inside the MRT juggling some multicoloured juggling balls during the train journey, that is my Juggling student. He has discovered for himself the amazing mental and physical benefits of Juggling. He's also a father of 4 children and continually engages his own children with activities such as Juggling.
