Funtana

Funtana Arts. Books. Culture. Decentralized. The event was born as a response to two significant phenomena.

Organised by the trio of Singapore Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, National Youth Council, National University of Singapore and supported by Clubsixy (Singapore), Let's Read@SG is Asia's most innovative culture festival that connects the Global-Asia creator ecosystem through premier thought leadership, culture workshops, vibrant communities and gamified reading challenges. Firstly, the i

nundation of fast-paced social media and AI bots threatens to diminish our human capacity for critical thinking and creative expression in the foreseeable future. Secondly, the influx of new immigrants settling in Singapore faces challenges in connecting with their neighbors and forming meaningful relationships. Let's Read@SG emerges as an initiative to involve society in the digital creator economy during the era of Web 3.0. The dedicated project team is devoted to engaging the local community, utilizing literature as a catalyst for social integration and cultural dialogue.

✨ Who is Banana Yoshimoto? ✨
Born in Tokyo, she became an international sensation with her debut novel Kitchen — a tender story about grief, love, and the quiet healing power of everyday life. Her writing is simple yet profound, comforting readers who are navigating change and loss.

Fun fact: she chose the pen name “Banana” because she loved the flower and wanted something soft, playful, and gender-neutral — a perfect reflection of her gentle but rebellious spirit. 🌸📚
