2,500km - Why are we Hiking for a Cause?

This is a Challenge to engage as many people as possible to hike with us, complete a total of 2,500km, and help us to raise funds for Badet.

If you are keen to contribute, you can do it in 3 different ways:

1. Hike with us!
We will be organizing hikes in SG to achieve a total of 2,500 km.
So, the more people we hike, the more kms we clock 😁
After every hike, please post the pictures in your respective social media profiles and tag us. That will create a huge ripple of awareness!

2. Hike in your own, in your city, with your group of friends, and share the kms you clocked in this profile.
Again, that will help us to achieve the goal faster and create awareness about Badet's delicate situation.
Also, don't hesitate to share the pictures of your hike on this page and in your social media.

3. Donate funds. Any amount counts, and it is a ray of hope.

Every hike has a purpose.
Usually, the main purpose is to be in good shape or lose weight, or simply be in contact with nature and breathe some fresh air, out of the big cities.

Sometimes, hikes are a kind of therapy, contributing to regulating our nervous system and restoring emotional and mental balance.

And some other times, the fewer, we hike as an activity to support somebody else who can not.
This is the case with my next hikes. I'll be hiking to raise funds for my sister-in-law, a brave woman who has been facing and fighting numerous illnesses: kidney issues, colon cancer, and now pneumonia.
She's now in a delicate situation in an ICU unit in Manila. But still fighting!

I'm unable to imagine what she feels and what she's going through.
I can't take out a bit of her pain and despair in this situation.
But I can help to provide the best attention she needs while she fights and till she recovers.

So, I'm organizing a set of hikes in SG to raise funds for her.

Photography has been, since I was 20 years old, one of my hobbies and my passions.
I always looked for different ways to see the world and how to express them in an image that triggers some kind of emotion or surprise in the observer.
But I never picked up a camera thinking it would teach me about myself.

And here I am: it turns out that photography isn’t just about what’s in front of the lens. it’s also (and more!) about what’s behind it.

When I started paying attention to the kind of moments I captured (urban landscapes without people, solitary figures, messy street scenes and details) I realized they were reflecting something deeper: my emotions, my state of mind, even the questions I was wrestling with.

Photography became a way to understand myself better, I kind of spiritual therapy, instead of just a way to take cool pictures.

Now, and after many months of preparing this personal project, I want to help others by using photography as a tool for self-awareness and growth.

Because every photo tells a story, not just about the world, but about you.

This is an initiative I'm taking part in with a group of coaching colleagues in which we are offering support to those who are transitioning in their careers due to company restructuring.

As you know there's been quite a number of layoffs in Singapore and people going through career transition because of company restructuring.
A couple of days ago my cohort of coaches just launched an initiative to support people who are going through career transition. We have made coaching coaching accessible through 'pay as you wish' or 'pay it forward' model.
We are not career coaches who give advice on employment or do job matching, but we can offer emotional support, accountability, rebuilding confidence and also help get clarity on what matters most to them.

We are going to hike to Gunung Lambak to reach the summit at 510m and take the Big Tree way to end up at Talula Hill Resort, where we may enjoy a yummy, farm-to-table meal.
After the meal, we will check-in in the resort and get our cabin (accommodation is based on shared room, 3-4 pax/cabin)
Enjoy a massage (optional) to relax your legs and body after the hike, or simply take some time to enjoy the quiet and peaceful environment of Talula Hill resort.
The next day we will start with a refreshing session of yoga (optional) in the pond deck during the sunrise. And after activating your body, a fresh, healthy breakfast will be waiting for us!
We will have the opportunity to have a tour in the farm and discover from where the organic veggies we’ve been eating came from.
And to end our stay, we will learn how to prepare fresh, home-made pasta!!
On our way back home, we are going to stop in Bukit Indah for some shopping, before to reach Singapore again.

Dear iHikers
This is why we are not being very active during last weeks.
Unfortunately, this injury in the ankle doesn’t allow me to run, jump or even walk.
It’s being more than 3 weeks since I injured myself and it’s improving slowly slowly…
So, not sure when we will set new hikes again, but I’ll keep myself optimistic! 😄👍🏼

In the meanwhile, I’ll keep sharing updates and useful videos with you, ihikers!! 😁🙏🏼
