Have a sip of science with us! ☕🧪Science Fika is a recurring event where researchers share their research in an easy-to-understand and enganing way, which is followed by a tasty fika! Completely free of charge! 🆓 This time it is about:
How did people in the 1500s create those beautifully rich red colours in knitted caps? 🔴 At this Science Fika, we’ll explore a multi-analytical study of six archaeological and historical caps that revealed three different red dyestuffs and four unique dye recipes. Hats down to the archaeologists! 🎩
But the story doesn’t end there. A follow-up experimental reconstruction project tested how these shades of red may actually have been produced using real 16th-century dyeing methods.
If you love science so much you could dye for it, come for the next Science Fika! ⚛️☕
🧶✨ Perfect for anyone curious about history, craft, chemistry, or colour.
