🚨Important Announcement about KYIVAN RUS FESTIVAL - Eastern Winds at Birka
The festival “Eastern Winds at Birka” is dedicated to the study of the culture of Kyivan Rus, with a special focus on Kyiv as its historical center and capital.
In addition, the festival will organize a charitable fundraising campaign to support Ukrainian military personnel and their rehabilitation, including programs taking place in Sweden.
People who support the policies of putin and the russian invasion of Ukraine are not welcome at our event. You may consider this position political, and that is entirely your choice. For us, the preservation of Ukraine’s sovereignty, cultural heritage, and historical legacy is a matter of principle.
We recognize and respect the historical reality that many important cities located within the borders of modern-day russia played significant roles in the history of Kyivan Rus. Denying or rewriting history would be both dishonest and unscientific. However, the primary focus of this festival will remain on Kyiv, as the historical capital and one of the most important centers of Kyivan Rus.
If you are uncomfortable with these principles, you are, of course, free not to participate in the event. We respect your decision, just as we expect ours to be respected.
