Official Statement
In light of the situation regarding the four horses that have fallen ill, we have taken immediate and extensive safety measures to protect equine health and prevent any potential spread of infection.
The four horses all belong to the same national team. All national teams are housed in different stables.
The first of these horses has already been tested and shown negative results for EHV (Equine Herpesvirus), equine influenza, and anaplasma.
To ensure the highest possible level of safety, the following measures have been implemented on-site:
* Management of symptoms: All horses showing signs of illness have either left the competition grounds or are currently isolated and in the process of leaving.
* Dedicated personnel: Specific staff members have been assigned to handle only these horses to minimize the risk of cross-contamination.
* Close monitoring: We are strictly following the Swedish Icelandic Horse Association's (SIF) biosecurity plan. The event veterinarian is monitoring the horses closely, including after the competitions have concluded.
We have informed all national team leaders that all participating horses must be isolated for 3 weeks (home isolation) and have their temperature checked daily upon returning home.
All horses participating in the Nordic Championships have undergone temperature checks prior to the event and have been monitored twice daily, morning and evening, throughout the championships.
We take this situation very seriously and are working continuously to ensure a safe environment for both horses and riders.
