Pride of Bangsamoro Maguindanaon

The Hiyas sa Maguindanaon representative, Bai Ayessa Mangansakan was crowned Hiyas sa Panaghiusa 2026 (1st Runner-up) after delivering a powerful winning answer on protecting cultural communities amid rapid urban development.

Asked what local government units (LGUs) and non-government organizations (NGOs) can do as infrastructure and commercial development put increasing pressure on traditional lands and cultural landmarks, she emphasized the importance of securing the consent and participation of cultural communities in decisions involving their ancestral lands.

She also stressed the need to provide livelihood opportunities and ensure that communities benefit from development.

Most importantly, she called for collaboration, respect, and inclusion to make sure that no cultural community is left behind as Davao City continues to grow.

"We should collaborate in order to respect one another and to ensure that no one is left behind" 👑✨
