Beta – Timișoara Architecture Biennial is organized by the Timiș branch of the Order of Architects of Romania, funded by the Municipality of Timișoara through the Project Center, co-funded by the Order of Architects of Romania through the architecture stamp, and by AFCN.
The 2026 edition takes place within the partnership between the Timișoara City Hall and the Miltonia Association.
Official partner: the Alber Foundation through Nord One, City of Mara, and Vivalia. With support from Retim, British Council, German Cultural Center and Goethe Institut, Institut Français Roumanie.
Media partners: Kiss FM, Rock FM, Magic FM, Revista Zeppelin, Les Dedans, Igloo.

Day 1 - 15 May

The first day opened the site and the process behind it.
For the first time, the former Ion Mincu Technical High School and the Botanical Park became accessible as a space in transformation, between construction and conversation, between ideas and what they begin to become.

We moved through works already in place and those still taking shape, guided by the teams involved.
We were glad to be together with the teams, participants, partners and sponsors, but also with the community that gathered around this moment.

Prima zi a deschis situl și procesul din spatele lui.
Pentru prima dată, fostul Liceu Tehnic Ion Mincu și Parcul Botanic au devenit accesibile ca un spațiu în transformare, între șantier și conversație, între idei și ceea ce începe să devină.

Am parcurs intervențiile deja realizate și pe cele încă în lucru, alături de echipele implicate.
Ne-am bucurat să fim împreună cu echipele, participanții, partenerii și sponsorii, dar și cu comunitatea care s-a adunat în jurul acestui moment.
Mulțumim că ați fost parte din moment.

Beta – Bienala de Arhitectură din Timișoara este un proiect al Ordinului Arhitecților din România, filiala Timiș, finanțat de Municipiul Timișoara prin Centrul de Proiecte, co-finanțat de Ordinul Arhitecților din România prin timbrul de arhitectură, și A.F.C.N.

Ediția din 2026 se desfășoară în contextul parteneriatului dintre Primăria Municipiului Timișoara și Asociația Miltonia.

📩 You are invited to join us on the weekend of 15–16 May for a preview of Beta 2026, on the site of the former “Ion Mincu” Technical High School, in the Botanical Park.

📆 The programme marks a first moment of encounter with the works, teams, and interventions currently in progress, ahead of the public opening of the biennial in September. Over these two days, we hope to offer a direct view into the working process: into the way architectural ideas meet a real place, with its materials, constraints, negotiations, and possibilities.

➡️ Access: entry is possible either from the Botanical Park or from Gheorghe Lazăr Street, through the gate of the former “Ion Mincu” Technical High School.

📩 Vă invităm să participați la evenimentul de preview al ediției Beta 2026, desfășurat pe situl fostului Liceu Tehnic „Ion Mincu”, în weekendul 15–16 mai.

📆 Programul marchează un prim moment de întâlnire cu lucrările, echipele și intervențiile aflate în desfășurare, înaintea deschiderii publice a bienalei din septembrie. Ne dorim ca aceste două zile să ofere o privire directă asupra procesului de lucru: asupra felului în care ideile arhitecturale se întâlnesc cu un loc real, cu materialele, constrângerile, negocierile și posibilitățile lui.

➡️ Intrarea se poate face din Parcul Botanic sau dinspre str. Gheorghe Lazăr, prin poarta fostului Liceu Tehnic "Ion Mincu".

LINA Blueprints was a three-day public program in Ljubljana that brought together fellows and member organisations of the LINA network to share projects, exchange ideas, and explore architecture as a collaborative, socially engaged practice. Through talks, workshops, and discussions, it created a space for emerging voices to connect across disciplines and contexts.
As a LINA member, Beta was invited to contribute by sharing our approach, engaging in dialogue with peers, and positioning our work within a wider European network of experimental practices.
The talks were centered on care, outlining Beta as it promotes an architecture of action, defined by the desire to be proactive, to collaborate and to be in dialogue; while also touching upon adaptive reuse as a collective practice of care rather than replacement.

Thank you to the .community for hosting us, and we look forward to hosting all the members and fellows in Timișoara in 2027.

📍September 4 – October 18: Main Exhibition & Office in Residence

This May, we open a first public moment: guided tours, talks, workshops, and installations unfolding in the former “Ion Mincu” Technical College building and the Botanical Park.
A preview about processes, not just results.
About practice, not just theory.
The main exhibition officially opens on September 4, 2026 and will remain open until October 18, 2026, followed by the Beta Awards. Full details, including the programme and the Office in Residence schedule, will be announced soon.

În mai deschidem un prim moment public: tururi ghidate, conferințe, workshop-uri și instalații în clădirea fostului liceu tehnic „Ion Mincu” și în Parcul Botanic.
Un preview despre procese, nu doar rezultate.
Despre practică, nu doar teorie.
Expoziția principală se deschide oficial pe 4 septembrie 2026 și va rămâne deschisă până pe 18 octombrie 2026, urmând să fie continuată de Beta Awards. Detaliile complete, inclusiv programul conex și calendarul Office in Residence, vor fi anunțate ulterior.

We’re happy to share that starting tomorrow part of the Beta team will be present at LINA Blueprints. LINA

Alexandra Trofin - architect and the person responsible for the last three editions of Beta, including Pepiniera.1306 plante pentru Timișoara, will be a speaker at the event.

LINA Blueprints is a three-day live event where LINA Fellows and Members present ideas, projects and collaborations from across the LINA network, sharing practical insights on how architecture can shape communities and space. Taking place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 15-17 April 2026, the event is open to everyone.
