Dragon Boat Regatta Qatar: 1st International Dragon Boat Tournament Makes Waves in Doha

Doha, Qatar – November 22-23, 2025

The Lusail Marina Corniche came alive with energy and excitement as Qatar hosted its 1st International Dragon Boat Tournament, marking a historic milestone for the sport in the region. The two-day event brought together passionate paddlers from across the Middle East and Europe, showcasing teamwork, endurance, and cultural unity against the stunning backdrop of Doha’s waterfront.

A Celebration of Sport and Community
The regatta featured a vibrant mix of local and international teams, turning Lusail Marina into a hub of camaraderie and competition. Spectators were treated to thrilling races, cultural displays, and a festive atmosphere that highlighted Qatar’s growing reputation as a premier destination for international sporting events.

After intense heats and finals, the podium was dominated by powerhouse teams from the UAE and Bahrain:
• Overall Champion: Classics Dragon Boat Team Dubai (UAE)
• First Runner-Up: Gladiators Abu Dhabi (UAE)
• Second Runner-Up: Legion of Vikings (Bahrain)

Their victory underscored the growing competitiveness of dragon boat racing in the region and set the stage for future international tournaments in Qatar.

Let’s unite and paddle for a cause!

In observance of the 𝟭𝟴-𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗘𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 (𝗩𝗔𝗪), which runs from 25 November to 12 December 2025, the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in the State of Qatar, in partnership with Migrant Workers Office - Doha, Qatar and Dragon Boat Regatta Qatar (DBRQ), invites the community to take part in a meaningful and symbolic paddling activity entitled, “Sagwan Para Kay Juana,” on Saturday, 13 December 2025 at 6:00 a.m.

This special event aims to promote unity, awareness, and collective action against gender-based violence. Let us come together as one community and paddle forward towards a future where every woman and girl is safe, valued, and empowered.
