Our Story
We’ll laugh with you. We’ll cry with you. We’ll feel your emotions. But you won’t know as much about us. So here’s what you should know:
STEPH & JAY (Owners/Photographers/Cinematographers/Post-Production) Our friendship (Jay and Steph) bloomed over a mutual love of music. Years later, we were married and shortly after that, we were asked to film a friend’s wedding. That’s how “Stay Sun Films” started. With no name and no intention of becoming cinematographers, we fell in love with Filmmaking. Making films that make people cry – in a good way – is our passion. And so, here we are. We spend so much time planning, producing and editing your movie, that we get to know how you laugh, we start to memorize your dance moves and expressions…OK, that sounds a bit creepy but it’s only because of the repetitiveness of the editing process. When we’re ready to give you the finished product, we feel like we’re your best friends and like we could sit at the same table as you – the cool kids. And you’re like, “Who are you? Oh right! The people with the cameras.” It’s hilarious.
TIM (Photographer) Tim is the newest member of the team. He is our photographer. For the sake of professionalism, we’ll say his name is Tim but he’ll never outlive “Timmy” in our household. I don’t really know how he came to love photography, but I did notice the camera would go missing from time to time and come back with blurry images of cats. One day, his voice deepened, he grew past about a thousand feet, and he started to say things like, “I wanna be an electrician”. He also started teaching us things about our own cameras and about photography. So we fired him…just kidding. He’s a huge part of the team and he takes really amazing and beautiful pictures for many of our clients, as well as endless hideous ones of me and Jay.
BELA (Everything Else) Bela is the “Mama Bear.” She deals with the boring work. Accounting, picture orders, holding bags, fixing the bride’s hair and dress when they need touch ups, etc. She does it all, and…she deals with me, her daughter.
