80 years of history. One evening to celebrate the legacy and look ahead to what comes next.

At Convento do Beato, we created and produced Mota-Engil’s 80th anniversary celebration, bringing 500 guests together for an evening of ideas, connection and celebration.

What turns a good event into a truly memorable experience often lies in the detail that gives it a distinctive identity.

In an interview with the Unicorn Awards, Angelina Castel-Branco, Partner at iMotion Events, reflects on creativity, impact, the challenges of time and budget, and the irreplaceable role of people in shaping the future of events.

She also revisits the idea of “Pinocchio’s nose”, an expression coined by our Creative Director, João Pereira, to describe the unexpected element that makes every proposal unique.

The second part of EDP Portugal 's 50th Anniversary celebration took place at MAAT , which became the setting for an evening bringing together leading figures from Portugal’s institutional, business and cultural landscape.

Hosted by Clara de Sousa, the evening welcomed guests including the President of the Portuguese Republic, José António Seguro, with addresses by EDP Chairman António Lobo Xavier and EDP CEO Miguel Stilwell d’Andrade. Following dinner, Yuval Noah Harari joined Tom Parker, host of The Next Five podcast, for a conversation on stage.

The evening culminated in a live performance by Carminho, accompanied by large-scale video mapping across MAAT’s historic façade, bringing architecture, music and technology together in one experience.

One night to celebrate 50 years and imagine what comes next.

A segunda parte da celebração do 50.º aniversário da EDP teve lugar no MAAT, que se tornou o cenário de uma noite que reuniu figuras de destaque da vida institucional, empresarial e cultural portuguesa.

Com Clara de Sousa a fazer as honras da casa, a noite contou com a presença do Presidente da República, José António Seguro, e com intervenções do Chairman da EDP, António Lobo Xavier, e do CEO da EDP, Miguel Stilwell d’Andrade. Depois do jantar, Yuval Noah Harari juntou-se a Tom Parker, host do podcast The Next Five, para uma conversa em palco.

A noite culminou com a atuação ao vivo de Carminho, acompanhada por um vídeo mapping de grande escala na fachada histórica do MAAT, unindo arquitetura, música e tecnologia numa só experiência.

EDP Portugal 's 50th Anniversary celebration unfolded in two parts. The first began with a Summit dedicated to the ideas, challenges and conversations shaping what comes next.

Hosted by Clara de Sousa, the morning brought together Miguel Stilwell d’Andrade, José Manuel Durão Barroso and Mo Gawdat, followed by a conversation moderated by Tom Parker, host of The Next Five podcast.

For us, it was about creating the right stage for big ideas, meaningful conversations and new perspectives, building an event where guests could… “Imagine the Next 50”.

A celebração do 50.º aniversário da EDP Portugal aconteceu em dois momentos. O primeiro começou com um Summit dedicado às ideias, aos desafios e às conversas sobre o que vem a seguir.

Com apresentação de Clara de Sousa, a manhã reuniu Miguel Stilwell d’Andrade, José Manuel Durão Barroso e Mo Gawdat, seguindo-se uma conversa moderada por Tom Parker, host do podcast The Next Five.

At 20, we know exactly who we are.

But more than anything, we’re excited to discover everything we can still become.

Over these 20 years, we’ve been to many places.

Created countless projects. Lived countless stories. Brought thousands of people together.

And we’ve always carried the same things with us:
curiosity, ambition, and the drive to do things well, and make them look damn good.

We’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come, but what excites us most is everything we still get to create.

Thank you to everyone who’s been part of these first 20 years.

Com 20 anos já sabemos bem o que somos.

Mas acima de tudo, estamos desejosos de descobrir tudo o que ainda podemos ser.

Nestes 20 anos, passámos por muitos lugares.

Criámos muitos projetos. Vivemos muitas histórias. Juntámos milhares de pessoas.

E levámos sempre connosco a mesma coisa:
a curiosidade, a ambição e a vontade de fazer bem, de fazer bonito.

Temos muito orgulho no caminho feito, mas o que mais nos entusiasma é tudo o que ainda podemos criar.

Some legacies are celebrated by looking back. Others grow even stronger when they point towards the future.

At Convento do Beato, we created and produced Mota-Engil's 80th anniversary celebration, bringing together around 500 guests for an event shaped by history, reflection and a shared vision for the future.

The conference “2046: Growing Competitiveness and New Challenges for the World” brought together leading figures for a roundtable moderated by Clara de Sousa and a conversation with Mario Draghi. This was followed by a cocktail, dinner and commemorative concert by Martim Sousa Tavares and Orchestra, inspired by the Group’s international presence.

From scenography and production to protocol and every detail of the guest experience, everything was designed to bring an 80-year legacy of inspiration to life, with many paths still to be built.

Há legados que se celebram olhando para trás. Outros ganham ainda mais força quando apontam para o futuro.

No Convento do Beato, criámos e produzimos a celebração dos 80 anos da Mota-Engil, reunindo cerca de 500 convidados num encontro entre história, reflexão e visão de futuro.

A conferência “2046: Competitividade crescente e novos desafios para o mundo” juntou personalidades de referência numa mesa-redonda moderada por Clara de Sousa e numa conversa com Mario Draghi. Seguiram-se um cocktail, um jantar e um concerto comemorativo de Martim Sousa Tavares e Orquestra, inspirado na dimensão internacional do Grupo.

Da cenografia à produção, do protocolo à experiência de cada convidado, cada detalhe foi pensado para dar forma a um legado de inspiração com 80 anos, e muitos caminhos ainda por construir.

From games and conversations with scientists to a micro-rave inspired by the world of microorganisms, we brought science closer to people, one experience at a time.
