Marlene is a Senior Developer Advocate at Microsoft, focused on Python and AI. She’s also a computer scientist, an international keynote speaker, and a true builder of communities. She currently chairs the ACM Practitioner Board, previously served as vice chair of the Python Software Foundation, and was the driving force behind the very first PyCon Africa.

At Azure Dev Summit, Marlene will introduce you to the next evolution of AI applications, Ambient Agents.

Most AI apps today rely on a simple chat interface. It’s familiar, but limited. In her talk, Marlene will show how we can move beyond this model by combining Azure AI Foundry with LangChain’s LangGraph framework to build agents that work in the background, respond to context, and only step in when it really matters.

This is about using AI not just as a chatbot, but as a true partner—one that scales with us, adapts to our environment, and helps us focus on what matters most.
