This post has taken me time to write. I wasn’t expecting to be this emotional about losing this incredible human Clive Davis. I was so lucky to call him a friend. He was extremely kind, generous, supportive, loved his children and grandchildren, and his long term friends- loyalty isn’t even a strong enough term to describe how he stood firm, built up and stayed til the end for all those he loved. He had the most wonderful unforgettable voice, he was always in a suit with a matching tie and pocket square. Clive Davis was the only person that looked absolutely perfect cruising around in his limousine. He loved music in a way I do- ALL music. Clive’s Grammy party literally launched the careers of major recording legends letting them perform just one song or putting them in ensembles with legends. He promoted those not on his label, not who he did business with but because he wanted to share them with us- he had that special intuition when someone was going to make it-
For me- I loved the memories, when I told Wiz Khalifa I loved his shirt and it was his skin full unbelievable tattoos- seeing Damiano David when no one knew him- (he is my secret boyfriend obviously) sitting with mgk who was so happy singing and dancing to his heroes like a teenager- all of us saw our idols and were the first to see new now very famous artists- it was magic. I found a photograph of me, Nelly Moudime and Nancy Pelosi celebrating Clive’s 90th. None of us ever missed anything he ever did.
Clive Davis you were so sweet, kind and generous to me. I will never ever forget the things I learned from you. Now I am grateful for Doug Davis .
Don’t forget I am a crowd reader…. I am playing your favorite song - I don’t forget a thing!!
You lived an incredible life to its fullest.
No one will take your place in the world but we can hopefully learn from your actions and appreciate the elegant way you navigated the world.
All my love ♥️
