As a wedding my photographer for almost ten years from time to time I also get invited to my friend’s weddings. Most of these times the invitation comes with a free pass to photograph, but most of all to make sure I also enjoy as a guest.
I have to admit, it is hard for me to attend a wedding without being able to photograph it 🫣😅 so given the opportunity to also do ‘whatever I wanted’ I dove in with two cameras, a digital RICOH GRIII hdr and an analogue NIKON F3. For most of you these may seem like regular gears to my work, but if you are a photographer reading this post, this is far from what you would expect for me to bring along.
While the ricoh enabled me to still perform as usual but with a smaller camera, more discrete and blended with my outfit, the nikon played along like almost an accessory, a vintage camera with a colourful strap with just one film roll ILFORD XP2.
On my regular weddings, analogue comes in as a playful part of the photography process I do not include it on my packages but I may take an ocasional photo or two. And it will remain like this.
But I have to admit that the NIKON & ILFORD combo was a blast!!! The black and white photos are just a delight.
So thank you Tiago A Velhinha Pereira and Inês Lima for taking a leap of faith and giving it all in for me to still do what I love most, photograph weddings while still enjoying the celebrations ! cheers! 🥂
