What a great morning yesterday connecting with law enforcement and fellow community members at Coffee with a Cop in Mount Horeb, WI!

A big thank you to the Mount Horeb Police Department, Dane County Sheriff's Office, MoHo Jo's, and everyone who helped make this event possible.

Hello, October.

There’s something about this time of year that makes you want to slow down a little.

The cooler days.
The changing colors.
The excuse to grab a warm drink and wander somewhere new.

October feels like an invitation to notice the little things.

Take the scenic route.
Spend a little longer somewhere you enjoy.
Say yes to the last-minute plan.
And maybe make a few memories you weren’t expecting.

So here’s to October and whatever adventures, conversations, and unexpected moments it brings.

Some trips end when you get home.

And some… somehow follow you back.

You unpack your suitcase, go back to work, settle into your usual routine but a little part of you is still there.

Maybe it’s the view you can’t stop thinking about.

The meal you still talk about.

The people you met along the way.

Or that one completely unexpected moment that became your favorite part of the trip.

I think that’s what makes travel so special.

It’s not always about how many places you visit.

Sometimes, it’s about the moments that stay with you long after you’ve left. ✈️

What a wonderful ‘Social’ held earlier this month with Gonstead Clinic of Chiropractic, Mt. Horeb, WI and Mount Horeb Area Chamber of Commerce! 🎉

It was a great evening filled with good conversation, delicious bites, community connections, and an informative tour of this beautiful and historic clinic.

I especially enjoyed learning more about the clinic’s history and Dr. Gonstead, founder of the Gonstead Method of chiropractic. His approach was developed decades ago and continues to be taught and practiced by chiropractors around the world today. 🩺

Thank you to everyone who came out to connect, and a special thank you to Dr. Salinger and Dr. Wiemers for welcoming us and being such gracious hosts!

It’s always great spending time with our local business community! ❤️

Have you ever traveled with 26 members of your family? 😂

In 2016, we did.

Brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, godparents — 26 of us somehow made our way to the British Virgin Islands together.

Some stayed on sailing yachts. Some stayed in villas. We island-hopped, snorkeled, wandered through local markets, ate incredible food, watched dolphins and whales alongside the boats... and at one point a seagull swooped down and stole my son's hamburger right out of his hands. 😂

But when I think back on that trip, it's really the experience of having all of us there together that I remember.

Twenty-six people. Different generations. Boats, villas, islands and a whole lot of memories.

I was back in Mineral Point last Friday for the Mineral Point Business Task Force meeting at Cafe 43 Coffee House!

I continue to enjoy connecting with local business owners, community leaders, and others who are working together to support businesses and encourage community growth.

It’s great to see the conversations, ideas, and connections happening around the table—and to represent The Shelley Experience in a community that puts a strong focus on supporting local. 💙

I was happy to join the Helwig crew, the Mount Horeb Madison Chamber of Commerce, and members of the community recently to celebrate this incredible milestone.

Sometimes the best ideas happen because the original plan isn't possible.

During COVID, a women's group I'd been part of for years wanted to find a way to actually see each other again.

So we took over a church parking lot. 😂

We brought in a local caterer, local businesses, speakers and turned the parking lot into this drive-through, stay-in-your-car, somehow-we're-all-together-again experience.

Looking back at it now, I realize how much of what became The Shelley Experience was already happening back then.

Bringing people together. Finding a different way when the obvious way doesn't work. Creating something people actually remember.
