Tips for the Best Wedding Photos from a Puerto Rico Wedding Photographer

After photographing weddings for 9 years, we’ve learned that the best photos usually come from a wedding day that feels relaxed, intentional, and true to you. Here are a few simple things that can make a big difference.

• Plan around the best light

Puerto Rico has beautiful light, but the middle of the day can be very strong. If possible, leave some time for portraits later in the afternoon, closer to sunset, when the light is softer and more flattering.

• Give yourself some breathing room

Try not to pack every part of the day too tightly. A little extra time helps you enjoy the day without feeling rushed, and some of the best photos often happen in those in-between moments.

• A First Look can help, but it’s not a must

A First Look can give you more time together and make the timeline feel more relaxed. But if seeing each other for the first time at the ceremony is important to you, keep that moment. Your wedding day should still feel like yours.

• Slow down during the important moments

Walk a little slower down the aisle. Hold your first kiss for an extra second. Hug your parents a little longer. You don’t have to perform for the camera, just give yourself time to actually enjoy what’s happening.

• Don’t worry about posing all day

During portraits, we’ll guide you when needed. After that, just focus on each other. Talk, laugh, walk, hug, and enjoy those few minutes together. The natural moments in between are often the ones you end up loving the most.

• Don’t stress about perfect weather

Puerto Rico’s weather can change quickly. A little wind, clouds, or even some rain doesn’t mean your photos are ruined. Sometimes those unexpected moments create some of the most beautiful images of the day.
