The initiative has sparked great enthusiasm, as local boys displayed high energy and excitement throughout the training sessions.
This program marks the start of a dedicated effort to bring more youth into rugby, providing them with structured opportunities to learn, play, and grow through the sport. The sessions are already proving that rugby has a natural home in South Punjab, with players showing eagerness to embrace the game and its values of teamwork, respect, and resilience.
Speaking on the launch, officials noted that this is the foundation for a long term vision:
• U20 rugby clubs will be developed in 2025.
• The program will expand to senior men’s rugby in 2026.
• Schools, colleges, and communities will be engaged to build a strong pathway for players.
This is more than just a sporting project.it is about empowering our youth, building character, and giving them a platform to succeed,” said the organizers.
This Initiative and the passion of the young athletes provide confidence that South Punjab will emerge as a key hub for rugby in Pakistan.
