Muhammad Uzair, a BBA Graduate and the founder of Youth Event Organizerizer, had a passion for event management since his university days. He actively participated in university events, gaining valuable experience in team management, leadership, scheduling, and time management. Uzair's part-time work as a Careem Captain and in a restaurant provided him with additional skills in navigation, customer service, and team coordination.
During his university years, Uzair's friend Aqsa was by his side, and together they presented their business plan for YEO in an Entrepreneurship course. Their mentor, Sir Minhaj Ikram, provided them with motivation and guidance. After graduation, Uzair took a job with a private limited company, but Sir Minhaj Ikram encouraged him to pursue his dream of starting his own business. With Aqsa's support in handling back-office tasks and client management, Uzair left his job and established YEO as a startup.
In 2019, Uzair and Aqsa presented their business plan at the "IU BEST BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION" and won the Best Business Plan award, along with a cash prize of Rs 25,000. This recognition led to an offer from IU for a free incubation center, where they could operate their office, manage clients, and expand their team.
Initially, YEO's income was modest, with Uzair earning Rs 20,000 per month. However, after entering the digital world through platforms like Facebook and Instagram, their social media marketing efforts boosted their monthly earnings to around Rs 30,000. With time, their sales continued to increase, reaching Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000 per month. Uzair's warehouse, which started empty, gradually filled up with event management inventory for occasions like birthday parties and weddings.
To further expand their business, Uzair decided to open a physical outlet on Abul Hassan Asphani Road in Karachi. With the outlet's establishment, the target number of events per month increased to 40-42. As the business grew, the team expanded from two members to eight, along with the addition of eight vendors.
Uptill Now YEO has Successfully completed 1000+ events. Other Event planners also rent out the inventory from YEO.
Uzair and Aqsa recognized the importance of continuous learning and enrolled in a Certified Event Management course at Usman Institute of Technology. They successfully completed eight batches of the course, educating around 50 students. Currently, they are launching the ninth batch of the event management course at Nexit360.
With the opening of the outlet, the fixed costs increased from Rs 15,000 to Rs 150,000, but the profit also rose significantly to around Rs 250,000. Aqsa, who initially managed YEO online while working at a private bank, eventually gained her family's support and actively participated in the business. The couple's marriage allowed Aqsa to contribute more effectively, and they managed events and the team together. Despite occasional conflicts and disagreements, they persisted and proved wrong to those who believed there was no scope in their business.
Uzair and Aqsa's dedication and efficient teamwork resulted in remarkable success. In May, they achieved total sales of Rs 800,000, with 80% of the sales generated by Aqsa and the remaining 20% by their team. Their cooperative team played a crucial role in managing the workload effectively.
Their inspiring journey highlights the importance of not succumbing to negativity and disregarding the opinions of those who discourage pursuing one's entrepreneurial dreams. Uzair and Aqsa's story serves as an example for aspiring entrepreneurs who face challenges such as limited resources, investment constraints, and lack of family support.
