Recent official news confirms the United Kingdom is now offering eVisas (fully digital visas) for travellers from countries that previously needed a traditional visa, including Pakistan. Here’s the latest:
✔️ UK has launched a new digital eVisa system that replaces the old visa-sticker process in passports with fully digital visas that are linked to your passport online.
From 25 February 2026, the UK began issuing eVisas to applicants instead of placing physical stickers in passports, including for visitor visas.
Successful applicants will receive visa confirmation by email and through an online UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account.
You still apply online and attend a visa application centre for biometrics, but you no longer need to surrender your passport or collect it later with a sticker.
🇵🇰 What It Means for Pakistani Citizens
Pakistani travellers — including tourists, business visitors, and people visiting family — can now get eVisas for the UK, and no longer receive physical visa stickers.
The British High Commission in Islamabad confirmed that Pakistanis will receive their visa digitally.
The system had already been introduced earlier for student and work visas and is now extended to tourist and other visitor visas.
📍 Important Notes
This doesn’t mean visa requirements have been abolished — if a passport still requires a visa (which Pakistan does), you must apply for that visa — but now it’s digital.
The digital eVisa functions as evidence of permission to travel, and you can generate a share code to prove your visa status to airlines or border officers.
There is no change to eligibility criteria, processing times, or the need to provide biometrics.
