I’ve taken the week off (for my birthday!) and spent my time park-hopping. And I realized something.

Walt didn’t build Disneyland to make piles of money (even though it did). He built it solely as a way to contribute to the world at large—to make a place where families could be happy together.

When I started MDS, I had the same outlook—create a space that allows folks to learn about something and take it with them. I would love for MDS to make money, don’t get me wrong, but it has been happiest there when people from different walks of life have come and learned and shared and built something.

So, if you or a family member is looking to take a class about woodworking, 3D printing/design, laser-engraving, or if you would just like to add a new & unique piece to your home, please think of McKinley Design Studio. I think that together we can make some happiness.

I'm pretty picky about how I display my movie props, and I noticed a huge problem with available Lightsaber Display Stands--the options are flimsy and unstable--definity making them a bad choice given the cost of my saber collection.

I looked at bigger 3D File design companies to see what options they have for purchasing a good saber stand, and guess what? They have no options for purchase in this particular area!

So I designed my own upright saber stand from scratch and it is now available for you! Check out my shop below to order the file for yourself. At just $5, the STL file can be printed without supports (but come one, add a few just for good measure) and at $5, you can print as many as you need.

After a slow start to year, there’s a lot of good media dropping soon! Daredevil 2, Darth Maul, Spider-Man and Supergirl this summer, and a big Dune 3 to end the year! Finally a reason to watch!
