I DIDN'T THINK OF HIRING A COORDINATOR, AND I THINK THAT WAS A BIG MISTAKE 😟
Hello, I just wanted to share my experience with my wedding.
We had a caterer for 120 pax, a host, lights and sounds, and a makeup artist, too. Sadly, I didn't think of hiring a coordinator, and I think that was a big mistake.
First, when we were at the church, my partner and I were surprised to see that the seats were full during the mass.
We only expected 100 pax based on the RSVP responses. I had sent out RSVP cards to get an accurate headcount and to confirm who's attending.
But the worst part was at the reception. It was chaotic – the venue was overcrowded, and our guests were standing while our bridesmaids and groomsmen didn't even have chairs.
The people sitting down were those we didn't know and weren't on the RSVP list.
During the welcome segment, instead of feeling loved, we felt tensed because we didn't know a lot of the guests.
We didn't even get to take pictures with my partner at the venue because he was busy looking for tables and chairs for the guests, while I was stressed about the food shortage.
Imagine lahat ng stolen photos namin ni husband while dancing ang pinag uusapan namin ay "kilala mo yun?, Sino ba yun?"
My family had to go back and forth between our house and the venue to bring more food.
My partner, I, and our parents didn't even get to eat properly because it was like a feeding program.
The program was rushed, and the guests started lining up for food even before it started, despite the timeline stated on the invitation.
What hurt the most was when I found out that my father had brought around 12 guests without consulting us, and they were made to stand. The gift money wasn't even given to me. I'm not crying over the money, but it hurt that my guests, who were important to me, had to stand on my wedding day.
I regret not hiring a coordinator to help manage the guest list. Looking back, I would have set boundaries like "no RSVP, no entry" or "no invitation, no entry."
To all the brides out there, please hire a coordinator for your own peace of mind. Don't give your parents a digital copy of your invitation. It's supposed to be a fun, lovely, and memorable day, but trust me, it's not worth the stress. Hire a coordinator, ladies!
