this is a conversation some of the people aren't ready for.
a lot of new home cooks selling cooked food hesitate to price higher than fast-food breakfasts, feeling nila they have to compete with the ₱45-50 all-day breakfast from trending kainan.
but let’s be real, hindi kami pareho. I don't compete with their prices.
those fast-food silogs? mass-produced, ready-made chili garlic oil, mga ulam fried all at once tapos iseserve through-out the whole day, puno ng MSG, designed to be fast and cheap, not necessarily masarap or sulit.
yung silog namin?
lutong-bahay, yes. garlic rice and ulam served fresh upon ordering. served in a snap with actual care and love. 💛
that difference matters, to the right people.
you don’t need "everybody" to buy from you like a huge chain. you just need a handful of local customers who care about what they eat, who can taste the difference between “pwede na” and “wow, sarap,” and who feel good knowing their money goes to a real person hustling in their community, not a corporation cutting corners for profit.
they’re not just buying silog.
they’re buying quality, comfort, and malasakit.
May mga nagsasabi, "ay dun sa kabila 35 lang siomai rice" and just like with our softdrinks. Yes, coca cola and pepsi products. There's a reason why ₱25.00 ang selling price namin and not ₱20.00. It's because mas mahal ang cost ng electricity na ginagamit namin since we are using an inverter, non-frost chest freezer. We serve ICE-COLD SOFTDRINKS just like how people love their softdrinks. We canvas and test different types of rice, different types of eggs (yes, the egg that we use are more nutritious and healthy than any other types of eggs, isa din yan sa secret namin), different types of brands for the ulam, and used our own recipe for our chili garlic oil, made from scratch, with ZERO PRESERVATIVES. Hindi rin kami gumagamit ng shortcuts--using MSG. We don't do that in our kitchen.
There will always be people who will complain. A wise businessman once said, "Binebentahan mo ang mga reklamador, at ang nagrereklamo pa ay ang mga walang pera." He taught me how to be wise, and here I am sharing this with you. You don't have to lower your price just because naghahatak ka ng customers. There will always be people who are willing to buy a product na mas mahal pero may high quality.
and yes, may mga taong willing magbayad more for that.
ps. but honestly, our food doesn't cost that much naman. pero the profit gives me the satisfaction that I need at the end of the day.
