The artist :
Michael Valenciano is widely regarded as one of the countryโs most promising young pianists today. An award-winning performer, he has distinguished himself in major competitions and has appeared extensively as both a recitalist and collaborative artist.
He earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Santo Tomas under the tutelage of Associate Professor Najib Ismail. He is a scholar of the Lisa Zheng Foundation and the Friends for Cultural Concerns of the Philippines (FCCP).
Valenciano is a two-time prizewinner at the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA), receiving recognition in 2018 and 2023. In 2019, he won First Prize at the Kayserburg International Piano Competition, an achievement that earned him the Benavides Award for Outstanding Achievement at the UST Awards. In 2021, he secured First Prize at the New York Young Performersโ Prize Competition. In recognition of his international accomplishments, he was invited to Malacaรฑang Palace in 2023, where he received the Ani ng Dangal Award for Music from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
Valenciano has steadily built his artistic career through numerous solo and collaborative performances across the Philippines. His engagements range from solo recitals and chamber music projects to vocal collaborations, reflecting his versatility and commitment to a broad and dynamic repertoire
