I never thought August would become a month I’d always remember for loss. Back in 2024, I was a Deck Cadet when I lost my uncle, and I had to leave the ship to come home and say goodbye. Now, in August 2026, as an Ordinary Seaman, I’m facing another painful goodbye this time, my grandfather.

Different years, different goodbyes, but the memories remain.
