After dozens of restaurants and food businesses that I’ve handled or consulted for, I have nothing but respect for the brave ones. The sleepless nights, the mental and emotional costs, the food costs, the labor costs, the exorbitant rental costs, and the not-so-easy customers, name it, we had it all so I told myself: “Never again!”
But then when the right one comes, you can’t help but open your heart and take a second look. It’s true what they say:
Everything will flow so easily. There are no struggles. It fits like a glove.
And best of all, it arrived when I was not even looking!
The speed (less than a month of work) and the ease of how Curated came to me feels like a dream. I kept this project a secret to my family and friends until the opening week. I wanted to cherish it as long as I could. It’s quaint and tiny, but the character is tremendously big.
As we open our restaurant, I pinched myself when the very first customer ordered. Is it really this easy? I told hundreds of my students so much unlovely things about running a business especially a restaurant that I want to hug all of them now and say... when you have learned all the lessons you need to learn, it will unfold at the most perfect time, and under circumstances that will take your breath away.
So with such a grateful heart, I introduce my newfound love. It makes my heart sing, makes me feel like work is not work at all, I can talk about it for hours, gives me the right kind of sleepless nights, makes me smile thinking of all the memories that will be formed in this place. Then at night, the dreams of endless possibilities warm my heart.
Everything is magical: the suppliers were all so supportive. They helped me open it without asking for anything while doing everything for me. I feel so spoiled! I am so cared for and supported. (Thanks most esp to Kenethrick who turns all my visions for every project that I handle into wonderful realities). My commissary team who never questions all my moves but has unwavering faith in all that I do. I am so very grateful.
I never thought I’d post a speech to thank my family and friends for the heart melting support like this publicly. But I can’t help it, the ❤ is felt so much, plus #CuratedKLC deserves it.
