Today was one of the most disappointing experiences I've had as a supplier.
A client who initially inquired back in January 2026 for an August 2026 event scheduled a meeting with me today at Central Mall Biñan, Laguna. We agreed to meet at Greenwich. After traveling from Rizal to Laguna for nearly three hours, I informed her that I was already outside the mall and about to park my vehicle.
At that moment, I was told that the meeting had to be canceled because her husband suddenly had work commitments.
Understanding emergencies is part of doing business. However, what made the situation difficult was that my calls went unanswered, and there was no effort to find an alternative arrangement despite my willingness to adjust and even meet at a different location.
As event suppliers, we offer face-to-face meetings not only to discuss details but also to give clients confidence that they are dealing with a legitimate business and a real person behind the service. These meetings require time, preparation, fuel expenses, and hours spent on the road.
A simple "pasensya na" is appreciated, but there are situations where the inconvenience caused goes far beyond a brief apology. Respecting each other's time is an important part of any professional relationship.
To future clients, if circumstances change or an emergency arises, please communicate as early as possible. A few minutes of notice can save someone several hours of travel and unnecessary expenses.
Let's all be more mindful of the commitments we make and the time we ask from others.
