Little baby Dos' birthday fell on the same weekend as last year's national elections. That is why his loving parents, KC and Doods, came up with the very clever idea of an election themed birthday brunch. The election season here in the PH is not very festive nor thematic, so we decided to grab our inspiration from the US particularly Washington DC.
Colors of red, white and blue brought the venue to life and gave it that patriotic and festive feel.The invitations were miniature versions of the Washington Post with stories and articles about the celebrator. The photo area simulated an actual voting booth. The buffet tables were derived from well-known food chains in Washington such as the Graffiato, La Boulangerie, and Ben's Chili Bowl. The main dining was inspired by the Newseum, a museum housing galleries and exhibits of historical and modern events. We had the Milestones and Pulitzer prize walls tell of Dos' favorites, achievements and memorable photos. The stage was flanked with large cutouts of the city's famous landmarks as background to the 'Capitol' birthday cake and the star-spangled letters.
All in all, I'd say we achieved a birthday party fit for a future president. :)
