Revisiting psychology concepts while creating a training module feels like unlocking them all over again. Only this time, with purpose.

One of my favorite tricks as a freelance host is embracing how human we are and the simple understanding of how our biology works when we’re on stage.

The amygdala is the part of the brain that detects danger.

When it’s triggered, it can override rational thinking and push the body into survival mode.

Kung makulbaan ta, our brain can misread nervousness as a threat—leading to a fight-or-flight response: racing heart, shaky voice, or even losing our train of thought while on stage which can result to stuttering or ‘kanga-kanga’.

But here’s the thing, recognizing these reactions gives you power.

You can pause, reset, and respond calmly instead of being carried away by nerves.

Excited to share more of these insights in my next training sessions!

3 years ago today! Probably one of my favorites back when I was still hosting school-based events. 😅

I can still remember how intimidated and nervous I was since this was an event attended by Political Science students from across Cebu—different schools, different people, different humor… definitely on my top worry list! 🥶 Kodlah and wawu oka!!

But looking back, I’m just grateful I took that opportunity despite the fear. It reminded me how much I genuinely love being on stage even when it scares me a little. ✨

If you’re looking for a sign to say yes to that hosting gig, even if you’re a little scared, this is it!
