Yes, you have fewer guests. But the guests do not take up majority of the work.
Let's discuss what happens in an ACTUAL WEDDING -- not the "weddings" you only see in photos or watch in videos or movies (these do not show the work involved)
Preps - do you have guests who need to be handled? Whether you have 10 or 1000 guests, the preps will always be about the bride, the groom, the ento, and their family members. No difference in work load. Therefore, no difference in the pay they should receive.
Actual Ceremony - should the guests be handled at this point? No. Only those who need to march need to be given attention at the beginning. Mass parts/ceremony parts re candle, veil, cord, unity candle, rings, coins, contract signing are the same because they involve the bride & groom. Only the groups for photos will be affected by the actual count inside the ceremony venue.
The post nup involves only the bride and groom.
At the reception - registration & food service are based on the guest count. Venue styling depends on the theme and how all out the couple wants the styling to be. Sounds and lights depend on the size of the venue, musicians, and emcee. The emcee's program does not get shortened because there are speeches, games, and an SDE. (Personally i noticed no difference in the length of time devoted to weddings with and without SDE.) The group photos will be shortened because there are fewer guests.
Musicians - the ceremony songs, the cocktail period (ie post nup of the couple), and meal time are the same
HMUA - whatever the number of guests, the bride has to be the most radiant on her big day
Designer - the number of guests do not dictate the intricacies of the gown, it's not automatic that a bride going for an intimate wedding will remove the train, the ruffles, the bead work, etc. Oh and the groom's suit should still fit perfectly. Having 10 guests does not excuse a groom from looking dapper on the day.
In all of these, you will only see very few tasks that are affected by guest count. So real and reputable suppliers who KNOW AND WILL ACTUALLY DO ALL THE WORK will not offer ALL the work of a COMPLETE wedding for half the price. If you're an employee, you wont be happy with half the salary if your tasks remain the same as when you had a full salary right?
So think hard before you get taken in by promos which are too good to be true. Think hard before you assign major tasks to friends and relatives who aren't immersed in weddings. You don't want to be full of regrets on your big day. How can you smile if you're blaming yourself for your bad choices?
