If you think the word above is misspelled, it’s not a curse and just change the first letter to L and it is pretty much the same.The Lumpia in Malabon is commonly called Sumpia. The basic filling will have ubod, kamote and other vegetables depending on the one making it & the season.

When buying Sumpia, para lang siyang fish balls, the secret is in the dipping sauce. It’s predominantly vinegar based with other ingredients. I love all forms of Sumpia and you can see this as street food here in Malabon but different “Titas of Malabon” make it with their special twist.

✔️ SUMPIA ni TITA BABY BUENAVENTURA. She’s a local caterer here in Malabon and one of her specialty is Sumpia. Her version also has ubod, kamote, carrots and a bit of string beans. Her version of the sauce is light brown in color and no spice-vinegar-sweet in taste.

I love the sauce of all, like what I said, parang fish balls the sauce will make a difference. The three versions of sauces are very good you can sip as soup and am not exaggerating. It is common practice here, they pair it with lugaw in the morning or as merienda. I guarantee you will eat more that one Sumpia roll and for the vegetarians, this can be a new addition to your food choices.
