Trap Shape

Fused Tip (Cup-Shaped). Unlike standard flytraps whose traps stay open at the end, the outer tips of a Cupped Trap fuse together, creating a cup-like or spoon-like bowl.
Cilia (Teeth)

The marginal teeth are typically shorter or irregularly fused, often clustering around the rim of the "cup" for a delicate look.

Growth Habit

🌿 Key Features
Trap Size

🪴 What is a Venus Flytrap?
Scientific Name: Dionaea muscipula

Origin: Coastal wetlands of North & South Carolina, USA.

How it works: It uses modified leaf traps to catch insects, absorbing nitrogen & phosphorus missing from its native poor soil.

⚡ How it Hunts: The 2-Touch Mechanism
To save energy from false alarms (like raindrops or leaves), it uses a smart timer:

Trigger Hairs: 3–4 tiny sensitive hairs inside each trap.

1st Touch: Starts a 20-second internal timer (no closure yet).

2nd Touch: If touched again within 20 seconds, the trap snaps shut in 0.1 seconds!

Digestion: Struggles from the insect stimulate enzymes to seal and digest it in 5–12 days, leaving only the exoskeleton before reopening.

The DCXL is a famous giant cultivar of the Venus Flytrap (Dionaea muscipula), highly sought after by collectors for its exceptionally large traps and vigorous growth habit. Under optimal lighting, the inner lobes often display a vibrant red coloration.

Care Tips: Thrives in full sun (shade during midday heat), requires distilled water or rainwater, and prefers constantly moist, acidic substrate like Chilean sphagnum moss. It is best kept in well-ventilated outdoor areas."
