So it’s pretty popular to use AI for everything right now so here I am giving it a go; ironically using it to talk to artists and curators about our unique gallery space in Poblacion. We’ve hosted hundreds of incredible exhibits and every artist I’ve met so far has been 100% organic. I prefer it that way. — MaMo, Founder

It's a new year, and we welcome woof our new Greet Hero at the Astbury. His name is Yogurt, and many of our regulars will remember with fondness his fluffball charm and creative mama, Francesca. This month he'll spend his time at the club to ensure we maintain our high quality snacks, sweet aromas, walkable areas for contemplation and giggles, plus of course, keep up the authentic affection and attention for which we are known.

You’ll be working at the Astbury, an independent culture hub and private members club in the city — we help our members thrive through provision of co-working space, creative studios, event venues, food and drinks, and personal/professional growth programs. We're located in the home of the avant-garde, Poblacion Makati. As a 2022 startup we have big dreams and have already taken many steps forward - we want to do better, and for that we need talented new people to join our Fam.

Enjoy the break people! Time to crack a little, release the pressure, reflect, pause, plan, reinvent, rebirth. The Astbury will be closed from today, Wednesday 16 April, and back on Monday.
While Holy Week holds deep religious significance for many, it’s also, culturally, one of the rare times Metro Manila collectively slows down. Traffic disappears, inboxes quiet, and even the most caffeinated among us might remember what it feels like to rest.
A few things to ponder while the city goes still:
🥚 The egg has long been a symbol of renewal—in both Christian and pre-Christian traditions. In ancient Persia, eggs were exchanged during the spring equinox as a symbol of rebirth and the cyclical nature of life.
🌕 Holy Week often coincides with the first full moon after the March equinox—linking it to lunar and seasonal calendars used by many cultures long before organised religion.
🌱 In some parts of the Philippines, the week is used for pagninilay—deep reflection. Not just fasting, but fasting from noise, expectation, or the need to perform.
Wherever you are—spiritually or geographically—may your break be nourishing, strange, and a little cracked in all the right ways.
