During The Mid Autumn Festival Mooncake Making Workshop held last Saturday August 2 2024, passionate home bakers and food lovers came together for a hands-on deep dive into one of the most iconic Chinese pastries. Led by Chef Catherine Blas Yu, the class explored the rich stories and time honored techniques behind crafting mooncakes from scratch.
Participants learned to create three delicious varieties including the elegant Traditional Cantonese Mooncake, the flavorful Shanghai Savory Mooncake, and the intricate Teochow Mooncake while gaining expert tips on fillings, dough, shaping, and traditional design.
