This year’s National Science and Youth Congress (NSYC) will be hosting one of its flagship sub-events, Mental Smackdown, serving proof that our ongoing pursuit for excellence continues to burn bright.

Mental Smackdown is an annual quiz competition that not only champions academic excellence but also fosters awareness and engagement in pressing environmental issues in the country. It brings together teams from various high schools in a dynamic and healthy competition, providing an avenue for academic growth across the disciplines of mathematics, chemistry, and physics. Aside from these core sciences, this event will also showcase concepts about this year’s main theme, Electronic Waste (E-Waste) Management and how it is relevant to this day.

Your long waiting has come to an end. National Science and Youth Congress returns this year with renewed energy and purpose, ignited by this year’s theme and slogan: Plug-in to Change: Practicing Sustainable and Responsible E-waste Management.

This year, we seek to reach out to the youth in transforming electronic waste into opportunities for a sustainable future through responsible disposal, recycling, and innovation. We aim to inspire the younger generation to take the lead in resource recovery practices that protect both our environment and our communities.
