During Holy Week, the altar becomes more than a table, it becomes the witness of love that chose sacrifice over comfort, and grace over judgment.
In Ligao City, Albay, the 12th Station of the Cross features three crosses symbolizing the crucifixion on Calvary. Behind them, star shines symbolizing divine light piercing through the darkest hour. Surrounding the scene are red and purple blooms: red for sacrifice and passion, purple for sorrow, weaving together Lent’s deepest meanings.
At the center is the image of La Pieta, capturing the silent agony of a mother cradling her crucified Son, a moment of unbearable grief and unshakable love.
This Holy Week, let us feel, remember, and believe that from death springs life, and from suffering, salvation. Holy Week invites us to the altar, not with perfection, but with hearts willing to remember, to repent, and to rise again with Christ.
Thank you to the devoted community of Bagumbayan, especially Puroks 4, 5, and 6, for their wholehearted effort in creating this altar. Unity and dedication have brought to life a sacred symbol that reflects the true essence of Holy Week - sacrifice, love, and faith. This altar reflects a community that came together to honor Christ’s ultimate act of love.
As we mark the final day of Christ’s passion, we prepare our hearts for the joy of His resurrection. Today we mourn, but tomorrow, we rejoice together in the triumph of life over death.
