Candidate No. 8, Maria Erin Tajanlangit, was officially crowned as Hiyas sang Katagman 2026, marking a memorable highlight of this year’s celebration in Oton, Iloilo. Her poise, confidence, and strong stage presence set her apart among the candidates, earning her the prestigious title.

The annual Hiyas sang Katagman pageant continues to showcase not only beauty but also the culture, intelligence, and pride of Otonanon women. This year’s competition reflected the theme of embracing timeless heritage, bringing together empowered individuals who embody the essence of a “Bayi sang Bulawan nga Ani.”

Tajanlangit’s victory represents more than a crown—it symbolizes her role as an ambassador of Oton’s rich traditions and evolving identity. As Hiyas sang Katagman 2026, she is expected to champion local culture, inspire the youth, and take part in community initiatives throughout her reign.

Designed by Tata Blas Pinuela, “Oton, Matahum Kong Puluy-an” reflects the beauty of rural life and the strength of its people. The bahay kubo-inspired backpiece symbolizes simplicity and humility, while the carabao represents resilience and dedication. The golden gown mirrors ripened rice at dawn—a tribute to farmers’ labor. As a Bulawan nga Bayi, it honors agriculture as pure gold, celebrating Oton as a home rich in purpose and pride.
