𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦: DECIPHER clinches 2nd Runner-Up title, members win individual awards at Sigabong

DECIPHER, a band from the College of Computer Studies at Central Philippine University (CPU), secured the 2nd Runner-Up title at Sigabong ###IV IGNITUS: Campus Clash last April 26.

Sigabong ###IV IGNITUS: Campus Clash is a live band competition featuring six bands from the University of San Agustin (USA), West Visayas State University (WVSU), Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT), and Western Institute of Technology (WIT), organized by the UP Hamili Brotherhood and UP Hamilia Sisterhood held at the Backyard Pub, Iloilo.

During an interview, the band attributed their performance to consistent practice despite busy academic schedules, committing to at least three hours of group rehearsals weekly, supplemented by individual practice.

"We always made time to practice our parts despite our tight schedules … consistent rehearsals and strong support gave us the mental preparation to step on stage," said Melody Tiquio, the band’s manager.

During the performance, despite facing technical difficulties, the band appreciated the quick response from the UPV staff and sound technicians in resolving the issue.

"The stage monitor wasn’t functioning properly, so we couldn’t hear each other clearly, but we truly appreciate the effort of the UPV staff and sound technicians, as these kinds of issues are sometimes unavoidable, and they responded quickly and resolved the problem; we’re very grateful for their support during the event," Tiquio explained.

The band also highlighted their internal chemistry as a key factor that distinguished them from other competitors.

"We treated the competition as just another fun ‘jamming time’ and genuinely enjoyed ourselves on stage—that connection made our performance feel special," the band said.

In addition to the band’s collective achievement, bassist Rizal Papas and drummer RJ Flamiano were recognized with individual awards for Best Bassist and Best Drummer, respectively.

Regarding future performances, the band shared that there are no gigs currently scheduled but expressed their openness to upcoming opportunities.
