We had no grand plan. We just had a love for food and the willingness to try anything to build something out of it. Bento boxes. Grazing tables. Catering for government sectors, private companies, brand launches, corporate lunches, weddings. If there was a client and a plate to fill, we figured out a way to make it work.
There was a night we baked over 2,000 cookies with only two people in the kitchen. No extra hands, no shortcuts, just two people who refused to let the order fall through. That's what this business has always been: figuring out how to make the impossible work because the alternative wasn't an option.
Along the way, we lost people too. People who were part of this dream at some point and, for their own reasons, weren't there to see the next chapter. That's part of the story too, even the parts that were hard to sit with.
And there were dreams we had to put on hold. Plans we were building toward that got set aside because family had to come first. Not every part of this story moved in a straight line, and that's okay. Some things matter more than momentum.
Cebu is where all of that happened. Long nights putting together grazing spreads at 2am. Learning what it means to cater to a wedding versus a corporate event versus a government function, and getting all three right. Recipes that failed more times than we'd like to admit before they became something worth serving.
Nobody sees any of that. They see the finished table, the plated box, the clean setup. They don't see the years of figuring it out one client, one crisis, one cookie at a time.
Every version of this business taught us something the last one couldn't. And looking back now, none of it was wasted. Not the grazing tables, not the 2am shifts, not the people we lost, not the dreams we paused for the people who mattered more.
But somewhere in all of it, it became clear this wasn't the whole story. It was the beginning of one.
So we're taking a moment to remember where this started. The good, the hard, the people, the years of just trying to make it work.
And then we're closing this page. Not because it's over, but because something bigger is already taking shape.
We're onto better things. This is not a goodbye, by the way.
We're just remaking what could be, so we can extend the dedication we've built to creating South Q all the more, to everyone.
See you. Puhon. 🤍
