Aurora State College of Technology marked another milestone in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2026 after its entry, “Crunch, Earth, and Heritage: Bringing the Flavor of Pako (Edible Fern) to the World,” ranked 44th in the University-Based Entrepreneurial Projects category (C7) out of over 900 submissions from universities worldwide.
Developed by the Bachelor of Industrial Technology – Food Technology Faculty and 4th Year Students, the project turned Aurora’s humble pako into world-class food innovations — from Pako’t-kutin chips, to Pako Ice Cream, to Pako Cake, to PaCooKiss cookies — blending heritage, research, and entrepreneurship.
The recognition forms part of ASCOT’s strong showing in WURI 2026, where the College entered the global rankings at Rank 337 worldwide with 18 entries placed across multiple categories in only its second year of participation.
The results were announced during the 6th HLU Annual Conference and WURI Global Rankings Ceremony on May 7, 2026, at National Chi Nan University, Taiwan.
This achievement reflects ASCOT’s continuing push for innovation, research, sustainability, and community impact, as well as the growing direction of Philippine higher education under the ACHIEVE Agenda.
Kudos to the entire ASCOT community, led by Dr. Renato G. Reyes, for continuing to bring Aurora’s flavors and excellence to the global stage.
TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY! 👑
