It’s the job of the wedding coordinator/planner to make the timeline after getting the responses of the other suppliers involved. That way, time limits are not imposed upon the other members of the team. As much as possible the preferred work time is given consideration. Of course, there will also be times when suppliers will be asked to adjust, especially if the preps will begin terribly early and the couple might run out of energy by the time reception begins. They still need energy to entertain guests.
Sometimes though hair and make up artists give really early call times not because they are slow in working but because they are giving allowance for all the usual excuses — waking up late, wanting to bathe when it’s time for make up instead of bathing earlier, declining to eat when the food arrives and wanting to eat when it’s time for make up, etc. They aren’t magicians. If the people for make up are late then definitely there will be repercussions.
It is also the job of coordinators to do time checks so that there will be enough time for everything — make up, the shoot, travel time, etc. Even if it’s an outdoor ceremony, we still need to respect the time of the guests, and we still need to start the reception at a time when everyone is still interested in what will happen. Of course, it super helps to have enough food during the 1.5 hour waiting time of the guests. It keeps them from complaining about when the program will begin and give you as a couple time for your shoot and your retouch.
It’s a long day — 12 to 16 hours. Choose your suppliers well. Listen to the pieces of advice of seasoned suppliers — they are not saying things just to make you spend. They are giving advice because they are concerned. ❤️
