Green melancholy

Using the same flowers and leaves from our family’s new year celebration, which i already refreshed for our friend group’s new year thanksgiving party on january 1st, i recut and rearranged them once again last january 12, this time in green goblets as vases for our friend’s bday. It’s amazing how long flowers and leaves can last with the proper care and techniques.

I refreshed the arrangement for our new year celebration, rearranged it a little and added candles, nothing like a little candle light illumination to drive away the dark negative shadows.

We used the muscat grapes gifted to us by our family to further add drama and decadence to our holiday table.
They were promptly eaten afterwards and they were delicious!

It’s been a long time since we last posted anything, or done anything remotely related to event styling. we’ve gone through a personal rough patch, with the death of a couple of friends and an internal struggle to stay happy. Despite all that, i did not want to let christmas pass by without doing something special for my family.
But i also did not want anything that felt too happy. As i was in a pensive mood, my thoughts brought me to the silence of a mossy forest. And i wanted to recreate that solemn, sort of sad but peaceful emotion that you get when you find yourself lost in sacred woods. I started with wild vaccinium branches, that we shaped in sort of windswept, seemingly unplanned shapes, then added eucalyptus leaves and their flowerpods, green burana jade dendrobium orchids, then haphazardly added a top layer pf lycopodium vines and davallia ferns, making it look like a wild forest floor where the elements of growth vie for space and sun. Just like my thoughts, they’re unbridled, wild and just a tad bit lost
