There is a game I play every single time I travel. How can I be present in my travels and photograph what I know I will want to see when I come home?
This little getaway with 14 of my favorite people was no exception. I knew I wanted to take photos of our time in Costa Rica together and hopefully sneak in a few couples portraits for each of them but I also did not want to pull my friends out of their own moments or constantly be interrupting my own desire to be present.
It’s impossible to turn my brain off but prioritizing film on these trips seems to slow it down. I find myself observing more. Allowing myself to be apart of the moment knowing that once the shutter clicks it will be done and I won’t be tempted to keep tweaking and fixing.
To my friends thank you for rolling with the ideas when they came. Thank you even more for the silly chats, the uncountable belly laughs, and the sweet surprises that made more memories than even possible to be photographed.
