Live Music in Paradise
Jump in a small outboard motorboat with a couple of friends and glide across the dark and quiet Caribbean night, carefully weaving in and out of sailboats anchored in the channel. In no time you are approaching the faint sounds of live rock ‘n’ roll music seeping out over a modern (relatively) megalith of a structure built over the water on hundreds of pilings. It’s sturdy as the night is dark, but yet you feel like the building must at least want to groove along with the musical vibrations being created from within. You’ll be greeted by bright lights jumping over the stage, performers and all the lovers of live music gathered in the space. With the air-conditioning, world-class lighting/sound/performers and only the finest things, you might think you’re in a club in New York; but you’re definitely not. You’re not in Paris, nor Tokyo or any big city for that matter. You’re in the right place if you love live music over the Caribbean ocean with the highest quality of everything. Welcome to the LostBoys Blues Bar on Isla Carenero, Bocas del Toro, Panama, part of the PirateArts Experience Fine Arts Resort.
LostBoys is a state-of-the-art venue currently exclusively open for special events. It the home of Bocas del Toro’s yearly music festival- Rocktoberfest, which the 2nd annual is being held on Oct 31, Nov 1 and Nov 3, 2019. This year’s festival will feature the GUITARMAGEDDON Bocas Battle of the Bands Night where six bands will compete for over $5,000 in cash and prizes, including 40 hours of studio time and a one week stay at the PirateArts Experience Resort. The venue has played host to charitable events, private parties, corporate events, the Showcolate International Chocolate Fair, Filthy Friday’s Neverland Bocas electronic music parties and live music concerts since opening on January 1st, 2018. Creative director Eric Veenstra’s mission with the venue is to “support, promote and enrich the musical and cultural scene in Bocas del Toro.”
