Our local Indoor bowls club, hosted a group of Kaurihohore school children, for two afternoons, of learning and experiencing the art of Indoor bowls. This has been a great opportunity for the younger generation to learn from the older generation and vice versa.

✨ Huge Shout Out to Our Incredible Local Trades! ✨

The Kaurihohore Public Hall Committee would like to give a massive thank you to the amazing local tradespeople who helped bring our kitchen renovation project to life! 🙌

From stripping out the old cabinets and sink, pulling down walls, rewiring and replumbing, to painting and manufacturing and installing beautiful new cabinetry and benchtops — this was a full team effort and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the results.

A huge thanks to:
🔨 Leading Hand Cabinetmaking
🚰 Justa Plumber
🧱 Smith & Sons - Whangarei
💡 Teal Electrical
🎨 Northland Painting

These folks were an absolute pleasure to work with — professional, efficient, and generous with sharp quotes. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to our community! 💯

Special thanks also to:
👏 Claire Gifford – for spearheading the project and coordinating quotes
🛠️ Dave Garrick – for his expert advice and demo work
🧰 Henry Smits – for finalising quotes and project managing to completion

Come check out the finished kitchen at our Shared Community Dinner this Saturday 26 July, 6pm at Kaurihohore Hall! 🍽️ A kid-friendly movie will play from 7.30pm. Bring a plate and your own drinks – plates, glasses and cutlery supplied.

🎉 Kaurihohore Public Hall Kitchen Renovation Update! 🛠️

We’ve made some amazing progress over the school holidays, and the kitchen is really starting to shine! Thanks to our dedicated builder, painter, electrician, cabinetmaker, and plumber, the new cabinets, benchtops, sink, and rangehood are now in place 🙌 The final coats of paint are on their way, and we’re working on adding a broom cupboard, some handy appliances, and possibly a little love to the floor to bring it all together.

But—we’re not quite done yet! With 18 days left to reach our fundraising goal, we still need your help to complete this project.

🎯 Please donate by 31 July via our Give-a-Little page. Every single dollar makes a big difference in finishing off this much-loved community space.

‼️HELP US RENOVATE THE HALL KITCHEN 🧑‍🍳

We need $10,000 to complete the job—every contribution makes a difference!

For 30 years, the kitchen at Kaurihohore Public Hall has served our community, but time has taken its toll. It’s outdated, impractical, and in desperate need of a transformation.

Thanks to the generosity of the Lotteries Commission, we’ve secured a $30,000 grant to begin the renovation—but we still need $10,000 to complete the job, covering demolition, electrics, plumbing, and painting.

We’re proud to have local tradespeople ready to bring this space back to life, ensuring the hall continues to be a welcoming hub for gatherings, events, and celebrations.

Every contribution makes a difference! Whether big or small, your support helps us create a kitchen that meets the needs of our community for years to come.

Join us in making this vision a reality—thank you for being a part of the Kaurihohore Public Hall’s future!

🎯All funds will go towards completing the renovation of our Community Hall serving the Kauri and wider Whangārei communities.

💵To make a donation go to our Give-A-Little Page:

Donations are open till 31 July.

'Hugh the Sharpener' worked his magic this morning at the hall, leaving a trail of very happy customers.
It was a great time to make new connections, chat with friends over coffee and promote upcoming events.
Thankyou Hugh, and to all the lovely people who brought their knives, scissors, hedge clippers etc and made the morning a success.
