🌟 Introducing Our New Committee + Celebrating a Successful Year 🌟

The Society is delighted to announce our new Committee for the year ahead:

Chairperson: Charles Stewart
Secretary: Tiffany Littin

Returning members:
Christine Grimmer (Treasurer)
Claire Gifford (Bookings Officer)
Warrick Harkness
Oringa Barach
Lynette Taylor
Noel Moffatt
Jane Garrick
Dave Garrick

We also acknowledge and thank our retiring committee members for their service:
Henry Smits (Chairperson, joined Aug 2024)
Bronwyn Bayne (Secretary, joined Aug 2023)

A special thank‑you to Cr Scott McKenzie - Deputy Mayor of Whangārei and local ward Councillor for joining us at the start of the meeting to share insights into Council priorities and the challenges facing local government during this period of significant reform.
Your contribution was greatly appreciated.

It has been another successful year for the Society. Community use of the Hall was very strong and hireage comfortably covered all operating costs. Thanks to the fantastic support at our Quiz Night fundraiser ($2,983 raised!), the Society achieved an operating profit of $7,887.

We were also successful in securing a significant grant from the Lottery Community Fund towards our kitchen refurbishment.

Our working capital at balance date sits at $20,737, confirming the strong financial health of the organisation.

Looking ahead, the Committee will explore grants and sponsorship to help manage rising insurance and electricity costs and towards other improvements to the building ensuring we continue to support our community sustainably.

A heartfelt thank‑you to our volunteers — Committee members and community helpers alike. Your dedication keeps the Hall thriving.

JUST SO YOU KNOW....we don't have a mass exodus of committee members. We are hoping for a replacement Secretary as Bronwyn has resigned due to other committments. So even if you are a 'pencil and paper' person we would love to hear from you. All positions are open for nominations though.
We would love to have younger people involved and sharing their ideas. You can do this by becoming a committee member or by helping outside of committee with events. It's great to build up a group of people we can call on.
Come to the wine and cheese and meeting if you can. We would like to get to know you.
Please use contacts below if you have any questions.
