Melissa and Harry's wedding a couple of weeks ago was one of the most special to me.
They saw me at Lisa and Cole's, and Sami and Jordan's weddings in 2017.
Kim and Tony's in 2020
And Jonathan and Deepa's in 2022.
In one family, i have now done 5 weddings. I've collected the whole set! Being able to see how their whānau has grown over the years was gorgeous.
And it was the best wedding for me to finish my time as a celebrant.
I drove home from Levin with a smile on my face and lightness in my heart as i thought of all of them, and all of the couples i have married over the last 13 years.
From doing weddings with:
✨️only the 2 witnesses present,
✨️a couple in their late 80s/early 90s,
✨️i was dressed as a freakshow circus ring master,
✨️been the MC,
✨️heard questionable vows,
✨️been caught on mic telling a groomsman he couldnt zip off to p*e during the ceremony,
✨️one where the couple had knowm each other for 5 weeks,
✨️a few where they had been together for decades,
✨️old friends from primary school and college,
✨️new friends from my new home town
and some weddings knowing they wouldnt last.
I married friends knowing i would also soon be the celebrant at one of their funerals in the coming months.
I can remember every one i have had the honour of doing.
Now, its time to focus on my whānau, my two little boys, my light.
Hopefully I'll be back in a few years 😉
