Contingency is important. While travelling as a celebrant, always pay attention to the forecast and pack for it! This Scottish wedding is scheduled outdoors on a beautiful lifestyle block, but it rained overnight, and grounds will be wet. No heels for me! Instead, it’ll be converse all stars and a blazer 😆 or maybe redband gumboots later on!

Off to Temuka, Timaru! Looking forward to a good Scottish wedding in the great South. Canne wait!

A favourite thing about my celebrant work is making connections! Having met, and now married, a fab Irish couple today who happen to live just up the road from me. I’ve so enjoyed their company, and meeting their friends, and well, they’ll be my new hiking buddies/neighbours! Here’s to Ralph and Grainne, and a happy Matariki to all!

Getting ready to officiate, is like a ritual in itself. Make-up, picking the outfit to match the conditions and vibe, and ensuring documentation, tissues, sound system, all in order. This was a magnificent wedding albeit we were up against wind gusts, but it was stunning nonetheless and omg Dee and Alice are the most beautiful people, what a privilege to marry them.
