Room Available ASAP - CBD - 13 Garrett St. Legendary Te Aro flat 13 Garrett Street is looking for a new flatmate! 💕🏩💕

This room is part of a two-floor community with 7 rooms on each floor. We are interested in community, DIY, sharing kai, and being an inclusive and accessible venue for interesting what-not. We’re q***r friendly, respectful and open. We’re a mix of artists, activists, academics, all-rounders. We love hosting gigs, readings, film nights, and fundraisers. We want to make Te Whanganui a Tara Wellington better with community and fun.

The available room is located on the first floor which features a huge shared space which gets full all day sun and a great projector, a big kitchen with heaps of appliances, shared DIY tools, and a communal wardrobe. Two bathrooms, one with an under-the-sea mural which will make your day 🐙🐠🐟🐡 Heat pumps keep us cosy (or air conditioned as needed).

The room is internal and cosy with a loft bed, and costs $190 a week (+$20 in expenses). Come through to get a sense of the place and rooms available. If interested, please DM with some information about yourself and why you'd like to live here. Ngā mihi nui! ✨

We had such a special night at PILEÍR/BULLETS a couple of weeks back! We heard beautiful poems, had delicious kai, and raised a bunch of money for Palestine!

The relationship between Ireland and Palestine is a strong and a literal one across time and place so it was beautiful to be able to continue that in Te Whanganui a Tara at 13 Garrett St. We loved hosting a love letter to Irish poetry and culture, with the intersectionality it inherently holds.

We’re so grateful to all our performers, everyone who helped out, and to y’all for coming out! It was everything we hoped for and more x

PILÉAR/BULLETS will be an evening of poetry from young first generation and diasporic Irish poets. Featuring Matariki Bennett, Sylvan Spring, Éimhín O’Shea, Bram Casey, and Síofra Ní Mháirtín; it’ll be a continuation of the proud history of Irish poetry across time and the globe. Urgent and fresh, these poets represent a new generation of writers whose work spans indigeneity, gender, and what it means to be Irish with oceans between us. In solidarity, proceeds from the evening will be split between the artists and mutual funds for Palestinian welfare. Tickets will be available at the door, with tiered price options of $15+ for the generous, $10 for the waged, and koha/name your price for any that need it. Books, zines, and various treasures will be available for purchase on the evening.

See you at the iconic 13 Garrett St in Te Aro in Pōneke at 7pm on Thursday the 19th of March.
